A business that has been trading for 180 years is one of the latest to join Buildbase.
J Rollings & Sons of Leicester was acquired in July 2007 and the new Rollings Buildbase signs have just gone up as part of major improvements around the site.
The branch is located on a one-and-a-half-acre site in Cannock Street, to the north side of Leicester. The original Rollings’ family business was founded in 1827 when it was based in Dunstable, selling and applying powdered whiting from a local quarry. It diversified into building materials in the 1960s and, since then, has become known as a traditional, heavyside builders merchant.
Manager Sam Hill has 28 years’ service and leads a team of very experienced staff who have superb local and product knowledge. Notable projects that have been supplied by the merchant include Leicester City’s Walker Stadium and the Ricoh Arena for Coventry City FC as well as a number of local schools and hospitals.
