Before the new contract came into force, Buildbase and Heart of England Property Services worked together closely to phase out stock and complete the final stock take. Buildbase also installed a trade counter, new signs, computer systems, phone lines, printers and fax machines to manage stock and take orders.

A comprehensive standard stock list was compiled including over 600 products used on a regular basis that must always be available. Buildbase filled the premises with these products and employed an experienced full-time member of staff to manage the project.

Buildbase applied for, and won the plumbing and heating contract for a local councils housing repairs and maintenance division via the OJEU tender process (official Journal of the European Union). After close inspection of the contract both parties decided that the best solution was for an in house managed store located within one of Buildbase’s largest branches.

Buildbase have provided them with their own stores to house their specialist stock, dedicated trade counter and parking spaces as well as exclusive phone and fax lines. We also have supplied a vehicle for emergency deliveries and personalised signs for the trade counter area.

There are two Buildbase staff who’s sole responsibility is to manage the day to day running of the stores, take all orders and control stock levels.

On line ordering system has been introduced enabling the customer to check stock levels within the managed store, keep up to date on progress of deliveries and place orders electronically.
