Acoustic Insulation

Using acoustic insulation deadens the transfer of sound between rooms, providing sound insulation and sound absorption. This simply leads to a better quality of life for occupants and a feeling of high-quality construction if sound from one room is less audible in others.

Whilst noise reduction is often a system and can involve changes in the way structural timber is used, as well as the type of flooring and plasterboard chosen, selecting the right insulation is key. Using acoustic insulation in refurbishment projects will make a difference to sound transfer, especially in conjunction with sound-deadening plasterboard. Using mineral wool as acoustic insulation ensures a better fit between insulation and timberwork reducing the potential for gaps caused by inaccurate cutting. Combined with the appropriate plasterboard, this will meet any sound-related Building Regulations

We are currently stocking Earthwool Acoustic Roll; a non-combustible mineral wool manufactured with Ecose technology, offering a lower price point than acoustic slabs and several environmental benefits. The rolls are pre-cut into 2 x 600mm wide sections so they can easily be separated and laid between stud wall battens or floor joists which are typically placed at 600mm centres.
