Solid Wall & Box Lintels
Solid wall lintels and box lintels can be used for internal and external construction.
Box lintels can be used as a lintel for solid wall externally due to being manufactured from galvanised steel and with powder coating for extra protection. This protects from premature rust and corrosion. Most box lintels also have perforations along the length acting as a plaster key and can be insulated if required. The box design saves on insulation and brickwork. It is also designed to carry a full load of wet masonry as soon as it is installed but must have a minimum end bearing of 150mm each side of the opening and be bedded on mortar with all perpendicular joints filled with mortar.
Box lintels are available in two options, with box lintel sizes to support 100mm wide walls with lengths from 1200mm to 3600mm and 200-215mm wide walls with lengths from 1200mm to 4800mm.
We work with Keystone to provide Keystone box lintels and with Birtley to provide Birtley steel lintels.
For your other projects please view our lintels for cavity walls. You can also view our range of lintels for eaves and our range of concrete lintels.
For more information on our lintels please check our how to guide. However, before ordering a lintel, it is essential that you speak with the project’s structural engineer to advise on the correct lintel for the job.
